Polish to English translation for UKVI

Poland keeps good records, but not one word of them is in English. An akt urodzenia, an akt małżeństwa, a wyrok rozwodowy, a świadectwo pracy, a dyplom or a zaświadczenie from the KRK. Whatever your USC or your old employer gave you, UKVI needs an English copy before it will look at your file.

Most of our Polish work comes from people already living here, often after years in Britain. Settled status, citizenship, a wedding, a divorce, a new job, a child starting school. Papers also arrive from Poland itself when a parent dies or a house has to be sold.

  • Old handwritten USC entries welcome — parish and registry books from decades back are read, not turned away
  • Ł, ż, ś and ć kept as they are — your surname matches your passport instead of being flattened into plain letters
  • Skrócony or zupełny, we tell you — the short version leaves things out that a caseworker will ask about
  • Court wording stays exact — a wyrok means what the judge wrote, and nothing gets softened
  • Whole bundles priced as one — work certificates from three jobs cost far less sent together
  • Back the same working day — Polish is one of our busiest desks, so single sheets move fast

Polish To English Translation For Every UKVI Application

These are the reasons Polish papers land on this desk, set out route by route. Find yours and you will know which version to ask the USC for before you spend a thing.

Proving years lived here, where a Polish record has to back up what you have said.

British Citizenship

What UKVI Checks On Every Polish Certified Translation

The last page of your English copy is the one that decides everything. A caseworker looks for eight marks there and nothing else. Ours has all eight on every Polish certified translation that leaves the office.

  • A signed line saying it is true and complete
  • The day the translator finished it
  • The translator's name, written out in full
  • A signature done by hand
  • A phone number and email that still work
  • Proof the translator is properly qualified
  • Our company letterhead, not plain paper
  • A translator unrelated to you

Polish Documents Ready Before Your Court Or Registry Date

Register office on Thursday, hearing on Friday, and the USC still has not posted anything. Most Polish sheets come back in about four hours, signed and stamped. Send yours and name the day it has to be in.

Polish Translation Cost Set By What Your Paper Holds

A short USC record is a few lines. A wyrok can run for pages. These six points set the cost of your Polish document translation, and the figures show where each part begins.

What affects your price Starts from Why it moves up or down
Short or full versionskrócony or zupełny £29/ page The short form is quick. The full version lists parents, notes and later entries, so it takes considerably longer.
Handwriting and old scripthow old it is a little moreif by hand Modern records are typed. A 1960s USC or parish entry is read slowly, and unclear words come back to you first.
Court wordingwyrok or postanowienie a little morelegal text Rulings carry fixed legal phrases that cannot be loosened, so they take a translator used to court language.
Several papers at oncework certificates lower rateper extra Świadectwa pracy from three employers are quoted as one job, so the second and third cost less than the first.
How soon you need itspeed from £0normal slot A normal slot adds nothing. Same day means somebody is put on your file the hour it arrives.
Where it goes nextUK or Poland from £75if sealed UK offices take a signed and stamped copy. Poland wants a tłumacz przysięgły for papers going back.

Polish Certified Translation Cases Solved This Year

Three real orders from this year, names shortened. Each had something in it that could have cost weeks.

Case 01 — Poland

Faded print, and nothing invented

Who they wereAneta P., registering with a new surgery
What they neededTwo discharge letters, Polish into English, for her GP and a Home Office file
The problemThe letters were years old and parts of the print had worn away completely
What we didMarked the worn words as unreadable instead of filling them in, and asked her about two
How long it tookNext working day
What happenedHer GP took the notes onto her record

Case 02 — United Kingdom

A marriage paper, used to end a marriage

Who they wereJustyna K., filing for divorce here
What they neededAn akt małżeństwa, into English, for the online divorce service
The problemThe service will not accept a Polish upload, and her application had already stalled once
What we didTranslated the whole page, stamps included, in the form the court expects to read
How long it tookSame day
What happenedHer application went through on the second try

Case 03 — Poland

Three jobs, one price

Who they wereMarek O., moving to a new sponsor
What they neededŚwiadectwa pracy from three employers, into UK English, as work evidence
The problemThree separate certificates, and quoting them one by one would have trebled his bill
What we didRan all three as one job so the job titles and dates matched across every page
How long it tookTwo working days
What happenedHe paid well under what he had been quoted elsewhere

My surname has ł in it and every firm before had written it as l. This one matched my passport, which is all the Home Office cares about.

Polish Translation Questions We Get Asked Every Week

These come from people with their own Polish papers in front of them. Small details, but each one has held somebody up at least once.

Should I ask the USC for the skrócony or the zupełny version?

+
The full one, in most cases. The short form leaves out the parents and any later notes, and those are exactly what a caseworker reads on a family or citizenship file. It costs nothing extra at the USC. Ask for the full version and you will not be sent back for it.

My surname uses ł, ż or ś. What happens to it?

+
It is written as your passport writes it, with a short note if the Polish paper spells it differently. Some passports keep the letters, some flatten them. Either is fine as long as the two papers agree, and the note makes sure they do.

My certificate is from the 1960s and written by hand.

+
Send it. Old USC and parish entries reach us all the time, and the older script is nothing unusual. If a word truly cannot be read, we mark it as unreadable rather than guessing, and we tell you before signing the work off.

Can several work certificates go in one order?

+
Yes, and it costs far less than ordering them one by one. Świadectwa pracy repeat much of the same wording, so after the first the rest move quickly. Sponsors usually want the whole run anyway, not a single year.

Will the divorce service here accept a Polish certificate?

+
Not in Polish. The online service rejects anything that is not in English, which is why so many applications stall at that step. Once the certificate is translated and stamped, it uploads like any other document.

My degree is from a Polish university. Will UK employers take it?

+
They take the translation. Whether the qualification itself compares to a British one is decided by the body that assesses awards, not by us. We keep the marks and the wording exactly as your university issued them so nothing is lost in between.

Do you translate Polish medical notes for a GP here?

+
Regularly. Discharge letters, test results and prescription lists all come through. Drug names and readings stay as your hospital printed them, because changing a unit could change what a result means.

My papers are going back to Poland, not to a UK office.

+
Then Poland wants a tłumacz przysięgły, a translator sworn before its own authorities, and a British certified copy may not be enough. Say where it is going before you order and we will point you the right way.
