Certified Police Certificate Translation Service for UKVI

A clean record from home only helps you here if someone can read it. Until then a visa sits still, a job offer waits and a school cannot clear you to start. A certified police certificate translation puts the whole page into English, including the line that says you have nothing recorded against you.

We get these from people applying for visas, from nurses and teachers joining a register, from carers being vetted, and from staff whose employer has asked for a check from every country they have lived in. Papers arrive from Spain, Romania, the Netherlands, Poland, France, Sri Lanka and plenty more.

  • The clean line is the point — the words saying nothing is recorded are set out clearly, never shortened
  • Codes and law references kept — the article numbers a police force quotes stay on the page
  • Check codes carried over — the reference or link that lets an office verify it goes across too
  • Several countries, one order — checks from two or three places quoted together
  • Works both ways — a British certificate put into Spanish or another language for a visa abroad
  • Turned round fast — these are short papers, so most go back the same day

how the translation works

Getting A Criminal Record Check Translated For The Home Office

Three steps, and these are among the fastest jobs we do. Most record checks are a single page with a short block of text and a stamp at the bottom.

1

Send the certificate as issued

If your police force emailed you a signed file, send that rather than a photo of a printout. The signature block and the check code stay live that way, and a reader can test them.

What A Vetting Team Looks For On Your Translated Check

Anyone reading a record check is trained to spot something that has been tampered with. So the page has to name the person who wrote it and show how to reach them. Where an office abroad wants a seal on top, our notarised and legalised translation covers that step too.

  • A line saying it is true and full
  • The date the work was done
  • The translator's name in full
  • A signature on the page
  • A number a vetting team can ring
  • What the translator is qualified in
  • Company paper with an address
  • Somebody with no link to you

Fast Police Check Translation Before A Start Date

Record checks run out faster than most papers, and employers usually ask for one right at the end, days before you are due to start. A single page is quick work here. Send it now and tell us the date you have been given.

These papers are written by police forces and courts, and they lean on set phrases that mean one thing in law and something looser in daily speech. Put the wrong word in and a clean record can read as unclear. Every check goes to someone used to that wording, from Romanian to English translation through to the pairs below.

Police Certificate Translation For UKVI, Questions Answered

Record checks come with their own worries, mostly about timing and exact wording. These are the ones we answer most.

My certificate runs out soon. Does the translation age with it?

+
The English copy never goes out of date, but the check behind it does, and most offices will not look at one older than six months. Get the certificate first, then order, rather than the other way round. Otherwise you can end up buying the translation twice.

Does the apostille sheet need doing as well?

+
Sometimes. Many apostilles are already printed in two languages, so the office can read them as they are. Where yours is not, it is only a few lines and costs very little. Send it with the certificate and we will tell you which case you are in.

Can you do my British certificate into another language?

+
Yes, and it is a regular job. Spain, Italy and a number of other countries ask for a UK record check before they will grant a study or work visa. Some also want a sworn translator rather than a British one, so name the country when you write in.

Mine has an entry on it. Will you soften how it reads?

+
No, and any firm that offers to is doing you harm. The English has to match the original word for word, including the offence and the date. A translation that reads better than the record it came from is the fastest way to lose your credibility with a vetting team.

There is a code or a link for checking it online. Does that go in?

+
It does, and it is one of the most useful parts of the page. Forces in Spain, Portugal and elsewhere print a reference so an office can look the certificate up for itself. We carry it straight across so that check can still be done.

The name on my check is spelled differently to my passport.

+
Tell us the passport spelling when you send it in. We copy the certificate as it stands and add a short line pointing out the difference, so a vetting team can see it is the same person rather than opening a query about it.

Can several countries go in one order?

+
Yes, and it is cheaper that way. People who have lived in three or four places usually need a check from each, and doing them together keeps the wording consistent as well as the cost down.

My employer wants paper, not a file.

+
Then say so when you order and a signed set goes in the post. Vetting teams often keep the copy you hand in, so most people take the emailed one for themselves and send the paper one on.
